    The entry criteria to the country from overseas will be as stated below. The country colours stated in the criteria will be updated every week.

    The country colours of Kosovo, North Macedonia and Greece have changed in the latest table below. The colour codes and relevant entry criteria of the specified countries will take effect from 23.08.2021 onwards.

    Rules According to Country Colors

    Quarantine Procedures for Students Travelling from Dark Red or Grey Categories

    Eastern Mediterranean University is glad to announce students traveling from Dark Red or Grey categories are now allowed to stay in home quarantine.

    Upon arrival, students must:

    • Have a valid student certificate for the Fall Semester 2021.
    • Have downloaded the mobile application named "Güvende Kal" to their mobile phone before coming to the TRNC and complete the registration and payment procedures in the application. The cost is 750 TL in total, 350 TL of which is a deposit refunded to the student once the 14 days quarantine is completed.
    • To provide a valid address where they will be staying for the home quarantine. If the student does not have accommodation to stay in, EMU has a wide range of on-campus dormitories.     • Students CANNOT go outside the quarantine zone within 14 days; thus, students will be given a bracelet to control their movements during the quarantine period.

    DARK RED;

    • People who have travelled to these countries in the last 14 days are forbidden from entering the country.
    • TRNC citizens will be able to enter the country on the condition of a negative PCR test result from within the last 72 hours and upon entry to the island, and 14 days of quarantine.
    • People who will come from Dark Red Countries with a student certificate to be notified by the National Education and Culture Ministry or to register as a new student will be able to enter the country on the condition that they spend 14 days in central quarantine.
    • Workers who already have a work permit and who request to come to our country will be able enter the country on the condition that they spend 14 days in quarantine.

    RED;

    VACCINATED or HAVE HAD THE DISEASE;

    • Pre-departure negative PCR result from the last 72 hours.
    • 5 days quarantine

    Note: Vaccinated people who will come from the United Kingdom will be able to enter the country without going into quarantine until 31.08.2021. A reassessment will be made on the specified date.

    UNVACCINATED;

    • Pre-departure negative PCR result from the last 72 hours.
    • 7 days quarantine.

    Covid-19 tests will be performed at all entry gates to people coming from these countries regardless of whether they have been vaccinated.

    ORANGE;

    PERSONS WHO ARE VACCINATED or HAD COVID;

    • Negative PCR result in the last 72 hours before the trip.
    • Quarantine free entry 

    NON-VACCINATED;

    • Negative PCR result in the last 72 hours before the trip.
    • 5-day quarantine 

    Covid-19 tests will be performed at all entry gates only to unvaccinated people coming from these countries.

    GREEN;

    VACCINATED or HAVE HAD THE DISEASE;

    • No restrictions.

    UNVACCINATED;

    • Pre-departure negative PCR result from the last 72 hours. Quarantine-free entry.

     Covid-19 tests will not be performed at the gates on people coming from these countries.

    GREY;

    • Whether vaccinated or not, entry to the country will be on condition of a pre-departure negative PCR result from the last 72 hours and 14 days of quarantine.

    From 15.08.2021 onwards people who will come from Dark Red-Grey Countries with a student certificate to be notified by the National Education and Culture Ministry or to register as a new student will be able to enter the country on the condition of negative PCR test results from the last 72 hours and upon entry and 14 days quarantine.

    GENERAL RULES

    • VACCINATED PEOPLE: Who have completed the vaccination programme. From 14 days after the last dose.
      • SINOVAC: 2 DOSES
      • BIONTECH: 2 DOSES
      • SINOPHARM: 2 DOSES
      • COMIRNATY (Pfizer/Biontech): 2 DOSES
      • VAXZEVRIA (Astrazeneca/Oxford): 2 DOSES
      • COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen / Johnson and Johnson: 1 DOSE
      • SPUTNIK V: 2 DOSES
      • MODERNA: 2 DOSES
    • People who have had two doses of a vaccine different from the vaccines mentioned above will be considered as vaccinated.
    • People who have had the Covid-19 disease and six months have passed will be considered as vaccinated if they have 1 dose of vaccine.
    • People who have had the disease: Submit a positive PCR test result taken between 30-180 days prior to travel. These people will be evaluated as vaccinated people.
    • Children under the age of 18 will be able to enter the country with parents who are vaccinated or who have had the disease as stated above based on the category of the country they have travelled from and in accordance with the PCR test rules (children who are 6 years old and over).
    • Passengers will be evaluated based on the country that is in the highest risk group among the countries they have set foot in/ been in, in the last 10 days.

    INLAND BORDER CROSSING RULES

    • Level 1 : No tests, no restrictions (A total of 0-74/100,000 people in 14 days)
    • Level 2 : Negative Antigen or PCR test once every 7 days (A total of 75-499/100,000 people in 14 days
    • Level 3 : Double vaccinated people with EMA-approved vaccines, as well as the Sinovac, Sinopharm or Sputnik vaccines, can cross with a 7-day negative rapid antigen test or PCR test, 14 days after their final dose (1st dose if Johnson& Johnson).

    Unvaccinated people (including unvaccinated workers and people who will cross for health reasons) can cross with a 72-hour negative rapid antigen test or PCR test.
    However, unvaccinated high school students and people residing in Kato Pyrgos will be able to cross with a 7-day negative rapid antigen test or PCR test. (A total of 500/100,000 people in 14 days)

    * People requesting to come to our country from Orange-Green Colour Category Countries via South Cyprus will be processed according to the country entry criteria stated above in “1 B”. However, people coming from Orange-Green Colour Category countries and staying in South Cyprus for more than 10 days will be processed within the scope of the Inland Border Crossing rules if they wish to cross into our country.

    * The inland border crossing rule will apply to people who have come to South Cyprus, expect for those who have come from dark red and grey countries, once they have stayed in South Cyprus for a period of 10 days.

    * On touristic coach tours to be arranged from South Cyprus to our country, unvaccinated tourists from yellow and orange countries will be able to cross for the day provided that they present a negative antigen test conducted within the last 24 hours or a negative PCR test conducted within the last 72 hours.
